Network priority for Ethernet + how to properly use 10999 ?

I have two devices in a setup:

Ethernet addresses:

iPad : 169.254.12.224:xxxxx

Macbook : 169.254.78.59:xxxxx

I can connect the devices on ethernet only if Wifi is off on both devices, before launching Sonobus. I can then turn Wifi back on.

If I don't turn Wifi off, Sonobus will always identify itself as 192.168 etc , the Wifi IP, and I can't connect or see the UDP of the ethernet connection, if it was still available.

Tangential question: During the working state with a proper ethernet connection, I am trying to save it to a private group by creating the group with the ip address of one of the devices then :10999 as per the docs. But nothing happens when pressing the button.
