Hi all,
I am new to Sonobus but have been jamming by using Jamulus with my band.  I like the non-compressed CD quality audio and feature rich options of Sonobus and would like to switch to it. I tried Jacktrip as well but not as user friendly and seems to be buggy.

My question is about local monitoring. Due to latency, the band is used to playing with the return audio from the mix.  However SonoBus is P2P and I don't think I have found a way to mute my own local monitoring but to hear my input through the round trip of the P2P connection.  May be by design such option is not possible with Sonobus.  In the case of Jamulus which is a client-server design, an audio mix is what everyone is listening to and that helps everyone to play with a common time reference.  Any suggestions on how to achieve my goal i  Sonobus?

Yes, adding controllable monitoring delay is on the list as a future feature! In the meantime you could hack it by using the plugin version of SonoBus in a DAW and putting a delay on your monitoring there... it’s a little bit of setup trouble though....

Does your interface have a local-direct versus software-application monitoring switch?  My Mackie mixer has a "blend knob" that allows me to hear my instruments directly, or from Sonobus, or a blend of the two.  Software monitoring should give you audio back from the session without your instrument being ahead of everybody else ( or closer to it anyway).

Randy, I believe they were asking for Jamulus-style delayed self-monitoring which brings you even closer to the remote people, at the expense of the brain-bending task of playing to self-latency....  so that's what a new future optional feature will allow....
