SonoBus relay / proxy server - availability - development status ?

What is the status of having a relay / proxy server for SonoBus available ? SonoBus is a wonderful piece of software. The network protocol is sadly a show stopper when it comes to connections between mobile devices (on mobile data connections) because many (most?) mobile providers use a symmetric NAT.
I would be happy to pay for the currently free mobile apps (iOS, Android), if this would help to have this functionality available soon.
