Dear all,
A couple of months ago, I recorded a quarantine version of a shabad I learned as a child with some talented friends in NYC and LA. We are releasing it today in solidarity with the hundreds of thousands of farmworkers rising up against the Indian government's pro-corporate, anti-farmer deregulation of agricultural markets. Watch the full video here (& follow me on youtube while you're at it!)

This shabad, Thir Ghar Baiso Har Jan Pyare, is an appropriate prayer for this moment. Here's a translation of a few of the lines:
"The people are sovereign, not under the rule of any shahs or emperors
They drink the most Divine tasting ambrosial nectar.
Fearlessly sing the praises of the Divine as a part of the sadh sangat [conscious community].
Nanak has entered the sanctuary of the Divine, the Inner-seeker, the searcher of hearts, and grasps the support of God."

I am totally blown away by this mass revolt for economic justice, dignity, and sovereignty - possibly the largest strike in human history, yet barely covered by mainstream media. Let's sing with them, march with them, and strike with them to amplify and grow their movement until there is victory.
