Hi all,
Hope the spring is treating you well! I'm back in NYC for awhile from lots of touring and recording in LA. A couple of things and updates:

This Saturday, May 4th I'll be joining Red Baraat PLUS, a 30-piece version of the band, at a big outdoor show at Lincoln Center. It's free and kid-friendly and should be a blast. The festivities start at 10:30am, and our set is at 12:30pm. Details here. While there is much to celebrate, it's also important to remember the thousands of (mostly) Black and Puerto Rican folks who were displaced from their neighborhood of San Juan Hill to make way for the construction of Lincoln Center. So as we enjoy Saturday, let's not forget the very high human cost that went into the creation of this cultural institution and recommit to fighting displacement in our city.

On May 19th, I'm thrilled to be joining Toshi Reagon and Alsarah for a concert celebrating musical migrations at Carnegie Hall. Toshi put together an amazing crew of fierce musicians, and it's going to be a powerful show. Details and tickets here

Also on May 17th, I'll likely be making a musical cameo at the launch party for the Breaking Waves Project at SOBs. It's a benefit for Al Qaws for Gender and Sexual Diversity in Palestinian Society, and should be fun!

Things are coming along on my album recording, and I'll be back in LA in June to continue working on it. A bunch of incredible musicians have been lending their voices to the tracks in the last month including Ganavya Doraiswamy (vocals), Mario Calire (drums), Ernest Stuart (trombone), Neelamjit Dhillon (tabla and saxophone), Anantvir Singh (harmonium), and Jonathon Goldberger (guitar). I'll keep you posted on updates as we make progress!

Finally, here's a little podcast about some work I've been doing with SIT study abroad on social justice education and training. Check it out if you feel like hearing me ramble a bunch about some of my (mostly) non-musical work...though music makes its way in too!

Hope to see you soon,
Sonny
