Hi there,

I hope you’re all well.

I’ve just happened upon a mountain bike race in Checkendon, of all places, tomorrow (Sunday). See here: http://www.1stgearcycles.com/news.php?articleid=5

Do any of you fancy giving it a go? I’ve not done one before, but it sounds fun.

This is what the website says:

For 2011 the arena and course will be improved, making for even closer racing. The Checkendon course is an absolute classic. 2.5 miles of twisty, super-fast singletrack. It's a pure test of singletrack ability. The course is ideal for beginners, so if you've not raced before this is the ideal opportunity.

I think the races are 5 laps long.

Hopefully see some of you there. Perhaps we could even enter a Sonning Common MTB team.

Cheers,

Bill

Is that the RAT's competition course ?..

i did attend one of these not to race but to view and it was very
competitive.. probably not the best as a first one but if you feel fit
and not worried about podium positions go have a go.. it is a fairly
flat course - there is a couple of turns with odd root patterns on the
floor which would catch you out, but after a couple of laps you know
where to avoid.

Thanks Rhino. Yes, I did do it and it was very competitive. Or at least that's my excuse for coming second last!

Cheers,
