Dear All,

I have installed the latest broadcom SONiC on the plataform EC AS7312-54X, broadcom TH based silicon.

I've been facing some hard time to control the fans, it comes up at  21200 RPM.
It seems those modules are not being detected by the NOS.

I have update to the latest CPLD (main board and fans), but no change.

By any change anyone have ever seen/faced this issue on EC AS7312-54X box?

* btw, if i installed another compatible NOS it works fine, all fans are readable and once NOS comes up it decreases  the fan speed (AC controlled environment)

Hi Rafael,

It doesn't look like there is API 2.0 or PDDF platform support for the AS7312-54X.  I searched through the open PRs for sonic-buildimage and I don't see any unmerged for that switch model.  I suggest opening a ticket with Edgecore to see if they have one in progress.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for replying me back, really appreciate it.

Please allow me to make just one comment.

AS7312-54X is listed on the latest build compatible list

Would you believe there would be any chance of supporting this platform?
Would there be any previous build which is supported on AS7312-54X Tomahawk platform?

Thank you once again!

Best Regards,
Rafael Bezerra

Hi Rafael,

Looks like I may have clicked on 7212 instead of 7312.  I do see platform API 2.0 support in master and 202305:

You could reboot after removing /var/log/syslog and look for bootup errors in syslog to see why the platform code is not working or open a ticket with Edgecore.  Also, I'm seeing an issue with some of the containers not starting/installed with master branch (pmon - which is required for the platform stuff to function).

Regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for replying back to me.

I don't think I clicked on 7712 instead 7312.
Anyway, it is worthwhile to test it again based on the link you have shared with me.

I also noticed some of the containers are not starting/installed.

Thank you!

Best regards,
Rafael Bezerra

Rafael et al,
Have you had any success with your AS7312-54X? I have managed to MANUALLY control the fans by directly writing to the fan percentage file (/sys/bus/i2c/devices/2-0066/fan_duty_cycle_percentage) while using the latest SONiC, but like you mentioned above there are MANY things that do not appear to be working. I just want this to be the most basic switch possible, connect to my other switches/router on Ethernet0 and bridge to every other port (other than eth0, I want that to remain separate as the management port). So far I have had no luck and it does not recognize any transceiver as present either.

Edgecore has specifically come back and told me that they will not provide any SONiC support for the AS7312-54X... and considering how much seems to be broken I am surprised SONiC still lists it as a support model.

Let me know if you have found a way to get it working properly, or an alternative NOS that does the job.
David
