tcpdump within SONiC to capture packets

Is there a special way to capture packets using tcpdump? I am on a Broadcom Tomahawk (Celestica DX010) and using tcpdump I am only able to capture MAYBE a few packets and even then, the packets are not UDP or TCP.

Is there a special switch I use in tcpdump??
