Inquiry Regarding the Status of STP in SONiC

Hi All,

I am currently using the community version of SONiC and I am experiencing an issue with L2 loops. I managed to resolve this problem by manually avoiding the loop, but I believe that a better solution would be to utilize STP. However, I am uncertain about the status of STP support in SONiC. I have observed that there has been considerable work done on STP/PVST in the SONiC’s STP repository. Nonetheless, I am still unsure about the CLI configuration for STP/PVST in SONiC.

Could anyone provide guidance with this matter?

Thank you for your help.

I am not able to run the commands mentioned in the HLD. I'm not sure what I might be missing or if there are any additional steps I need to follow.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some guidance to configure these STP/PVST commands.

I am using sonic-vs image version 202205. Please find attached a screenshot showing that the SONiC STP container is not running.

After enquiring a bit more on STP, I have learned that there are some unmerged PRs that may be required for the configurations to function properly.

These PRs are as follows:

https://github.com/sonic-net/sonic-swss/pull/1058

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide an update on the status of these PRs or if I am still missing some steps in configuration so that I can raise an issue as per your suggestion.

You have to merge those unmerged PRs and build sonic-vs image by yourself. It is not a configuration issue.

Actually I am new to SONiC, I am unfamiliar with the process of merging PRs and building vs image. Since I am not the owner of these PRs, I would appreciate your guidance on how to proceed with merging them and building the image.
