Subject: [LAP24] Task 1: Number of simulations (‘num_exp’ value)
Hi LAPers,
We hope you are all starting to get some good results in the LAP challenge as the deadline is fast approaching.
We just have a quick announcement for those participating in Task 1. We wanted to let you know that for the perceptual test used in the stage 1 validation, the value of ‘num_exp’ will be set to 300 simulations.
That is, we will explicitly set ‘num_exp’ to 300 as one of the parameters when calling the auditory model. If it is not defined, ‘num_exp’ defaults to 50. This value of 50 reduces computation time and is reasonable to check how far/close the metrics are from meeting the thresholds. However, it does not yield a very accurate result, and therefore, in the final evaluation, ‘num_exp’ will be increased to 300 simulations to improve the estimate.
Do let us know if you have any questions about this.
Cheers,
Aidan, along with the rest of the LAP team
