There is a lot of competition in the music industry, and I wonder
sometimes why people want to be involved, due to its lucrative nature.
You know what, some people have a passion and some have a hobby. In
order to create hip hop beats of quality, you need passion.
If you want to be a good music producer ask yourself a couple of
questions. What makes me different from others? What is my unique
sound? What direction do I want to take my music? Who can I imagine
singing or rapping on my beats? Am I marketable?
These are some questions that you should ask yourself as you continue
you journey towards becoming a start producer. If you want to limit
yourself to simply create hip hop beats, then by all means. If you
want to be more marketable and diverse then get into everything. There
are many music producers who make a full time income producing for
commercials, or children shows. Be diverse and you will have a wider
range of opportunity.
I have no problem with anyone with a desire to create hip hop beats,
due to its popularity, but you have to work extremely hard and market
yourself very well in order to get recognition. It is hard enough to
find out about special events, let alone get respect at them. Do your
research on your history, have an open ear to all types of music and
become diverse. With these starting steps, you can be on the road to
success within the competitive industry. Do you want to create hip hop
beats, pop, r &b. Whatever you choose, just make sure you do
research on the famous producers. Everyone starts somewhere, which
route will you choose?
