Bogar, Bhogar, or Boganathar was a Tamil Shaivite Siddhar. He was a disciple of Kalangi Nathar.[1] He was born in Vaigavur near Palani Hills. He received his education from his mother and his grand father described in several traditions and texts.[2] Bogar himself describes his native roots in his book "Bogar 7000". Bogar went from Tamil Nadu to China and taught about enlightenment, this is also mentioned in his book Bogar 7000. Bogar is said to be in "nirvikalpa samadhi" below the sanctorum of Palani Murugan hill temple. The Tamraparniyan sea route was adopted by Bogar in his travels from South India to China via Sri Lanka (ancient Tamraparni).[1]

A disciple of Agastya's teachings, Bogar himself taught meditation, alchemy, yantric designs and Kriya yoga at the Kataragama Murugan shrine, inscribing a yantric geometric design etched onto a metallic plate and installing it at the sanctum sanctorum of the Kataragama temple complex.[3][4] Bogar is one of the earliest pilgrims to have traversed the Murugan Tiruppadai of Sri Lanka. According to legends and the temple scriptures of Palani temple, Bogar crafted the murti of Murugan at the hill temple in Palani by mixing nine poisonous herbs (Navapashanam) using a unique procedure. He also established the temple for Murugan in Poombarai Kuzhanthai Velappar temple Kodaikanal Tamil Nadu, India.

There is an extant statue of lord Murugan in Navapashanam. The milk that was poured on this statue has been said to have mixed with some of the herbs thereby proving to be an effective cure for the diseases during the time[5][6][7]

According to Siddhar medicine documents, Bogar was the discoverer of an elixir of immortality. The Pharmacognosy is the best known of his treatises. His other works are on yoga and archery, and a glossary of medicine.[8]

When i met a famous publisher at chennai, publishing spiritual books in tamil criticized on their third part of Bogar 7000 "there is the major difference between the third part of bogar 7000 with another version which was published by his father around some 50 years back". Also first part of preamble stages there is a hidden part verses published at palani town which is always used to handover to next disciples directly. when i compiled some of the bogar 7000 verses i found some verses were missing between my books. then i referred with Adayar theosophical society for other publishers. these things always happens when we try to crack the full version on sithar books. but bogar 12000 brought to me and explained by disciples at madurai. it is requested to read carefully on medicinal aspect with siththar verses. most of the people from siththa medical college have ego to deny my statement. but its true and experience facts.

Thanks for the detailed info about these. You have mentioned some people in Madurai and palani had bogar 12000 book and it is not yet published right? Do you know it could you Mail me like whom to contact in Madurai or palani to get a copy ?

whatever i referred in our telephonic talk is true and following by the people whoever deeply rooted with these spiritual path especially in alchemy. they showed the copies of verses engraved in palm leaves after Fraternity of eight years. now u can understand the value and importance of the art what u wants to go through.

Dear Mr.Thillai,

Your blog is interesting. Changes in palmleaf version during several centuries are possible when it is handed over down the generations.

IDAI CHERUGAL is possible and copies would have gone to many places. Authenticity is left to Bogar himself.

If properly researched, books of siththar throw high potential news about all matters.

Many songs have MARAIPPU PORUL words. many people have mistaken some words and kept on trying for years and not succeeded. Self experiment is useless and dangerous, it has to be tested under guidance of a guru.

Few years ago I met and had darshan of guru Bogar who initiated me to write a book. Recently I completed a book on guru and to be released next month by a chennai publisher.

Infact, I have mentioned your blog also in my numerous reference list.

its good to hear all siddhars and yogis comes in to media and they started to initiate in this external world and makes serial type of yogis from this material world and coming as publishers. send a copy of your book if u r bogar permits to issue a copy to this beggar if am eligible to read about bogar.

Hello Mr. Pillai,
Thank-you for your research articles and the good work of your foundation. I have made several very significant discoveries concerning Siddha rasamuni, regarding photoluminescence properties of specialized bhasma formulations.

All of the selected metallic mineral substances applied in rasamuni formulations are semiconductor nanoparticles with photoluminescence properties that are now known to science. I have gained a complete understanding of the biophotonic function of rasamuni and kaya kalpa methods, and would like to share this information with your foundation researchers in full.

In the true spirit of knowledge,
Alex Putney

He was born into the cast of goldsmiths and was initiated into Jnana yoga by Kalanginathar (who is believed to have been a Chinese Jnana Yogi who settled in India). He traveled intensively to both China and South America (the Muycas of Chile: "Bocha, who gave laws to Muycas, was a white, bearded man, wearing long robes, who regulated the calendar, established festivals, and vanished in time like others. The South American cultures were meticulous about cataloging the actions of notable characters.

It is documented that when Bogan returned to India he visited many holy places and shrines along the way. It is known that he visited the great temple to the divine mother Kumakhya in Guwahati, Assam

He wrote his greatest work Bogar 7000,000 close to mount Kailash with the blessings of Lord Shiva himself. Later this work was abridged to 7000 verses and is widely known as the Bogar Sapta Kandam. .

( pashanas or poisons of siddha science are mineral elements that will evaporate upon application of heat and we as yet do not understand how these elements could have been amalgated into a metal)

He prescribed a concoction that must be made from milk and a secret recipe pachimirtam and pored this over the idol every day for the whole of the Kali Yuga. This resulting mixture will then imbibe minute quantities of the nine poison amalgam and will possess amazing healing properties that will be capable of healing all disease throughout the Kali Yuga and thus began homeopathy. To this day the descendants of Pulipani continue to do this Abhishek (Ritual)

At some point Bogan visited Kataragama in south eastern Shri Lanka to meditate perfect his practices and install a yantra of Lord Murugan for power. It was whist here that he came across a young lad called Nagaraj ( who we will recognize as Babaji. Nagaraj realizing just who this outstanding figure was, became his Shisha and studied for many years under Bogans loving tutorage. Later he was sent by bogan to perfect these practices to Courtallem in Tamil Nadu to Agastya who was residing there.

In his book S.A.A. Ramaiah (1979) translates from Bogans poem Jnana Sutra - 8, verse number 4, that after preparing a Kayakalpa tablet of thirty five herbs he retired to a hilltop with his most faithful students:- He chose three of his best disciples and his faithful dog, and took them to the top of a mountain. First offering a tablet to the dog, the dog immediately fell over dead. He next offered it to his leading disciple, Yu, who also immediately fell over dead. After offering it to the two remaining disciples, who by this time were extremely nervous, and who promptly hid their tablets rather than swallow them, Boganatha swallowed the remaining tablets and also fell over unconscious. Crying with grief, the two remaining disciples went down the mountain to get material to bury the bodies. When the disciples returned to the spot where the bodies had been left lying, all that was found was a note, in Boganathar's handwriting, which said:
The kaya kalpa tablets are working. After awakening from their trance I restored faithful Yu and the dog. You have missed your chance for immortality.

carefully draw flower petals in a circle; Ah sound is modified, concentrate Air (while breathing to that spot). All of the four will secrete, as a result, and will manifest. Be there. Remaining in the Mula (root center) you should blow.

If you breathe blowing with great force the realm of Thou. The ascending fire manifests as the guru; That guru manifests as the essence of Truth; It ends the dark night.
In the elemental still spaces of vital energy, The Divine flames end the darkness. In these spaces are found the Pot of Siddhi (divine powers), the epicenter of metamorphosis. The Samadhi of Light remains.

Verse no.4
Although the box is closed, you will get it open; Open the firmly closed lid and churn the pit; Pour half the contents into a sixjaan' (outstretched hand width) vessel. The result is a'paspam' (oxide) which may produce marvelous effects.

Verse no. 5
Meticulously and naturally raise to a height of three jaan, The Static Shakti, after looking at her and making her blossom. Worship him in the depths of your being; The Samadhi will enlighten the eight domains.
