Myclient has a sharp MX-2310U MFP, that will not print from any computer or for any user. It is on a Windows 2012 network with a TCP/IP port, I can ping the machine, log into its web interface and print from the web interface but not from any computer, including the server.

The driver is up to date, the port is correct (TCP/IP, RAW, SNMP is enabled, I have also tried with it disabled, no difference), RAW is enabled on the printer with the standard 9100 port, I have tried a different network cable and with a known working network point.

Assuming you are in Microsoft AD, do a search for the printer object and check its permissions (or lack of). Try giving yourself (admin) and/or a user group permissions to print/control the printer object. and start testing. Might need a bit of trial and error to get the permissions exactly how you want them.

Other printers on this network work fine, with no issues. I should have said earlier that the client uses print management software Print Manager Plus, but that is telling me that the document has printed, so it is allowing it through. I also disabled it to test it, but still no luck, might be useful to know though.

The 2310U was a bit of a weird duck where the sales rep could sell the U(n-networked) with network printing bolted on for higher margins than a N(etworked) model with it standard. However they may or may not have made sure to include the PCL or PS PDL upgrades also.

Thanks Will, I am thinking that may be the case. Do you know how I can tell if I have the print kit or the product licences? It is not something that the printer technician mentioned when he was looking at the machine though?

1. Are you using a post script driver? That model does not come standard with PS. Use the PCL6 driver. The machine will rev up and discard a job if sent with a PS driver without PS installed.

2. Do you have to enter a code to make copies? You may need to enter a code on the job handling tab of the driver. The same thing will happen, the machine will rev up and discard the job sent without a user code attached to it.

I am trying to connect my Macbook Pro 2018 to a sharp MX-M264N printer. Every time I go to create the printer it says unable to verify printer on your network. I have the correct IP address and driver installed and I am connected to the same WIFI was the printer. I know it isn't a problem with the network/printer because I can printer from my Windows laptop no problem.

Would it be correct to assume that the printer is equipped with a PostScript3 expansion kit (at least according to the operation manual section 3-17, needed for use with a Macintosh computer)? If so, is the driver that you have a PostScript version for macOS 10.14?

What happens if you test the macOS "Generic PostScript Printer" driver? PostScript/PPD files for Mac are also listed under under the second link above (the "Drivers" section). Since PostScript3 apparently was an option, are you sure that the extension kit in question actually had been installed? If not, a totally different type of print driver may be of interest (the macOS "Generic PCL Printer" or something similar?). Also, any change if you try to choose alternative printing protocols?
