Dear singers,

The next circle will meet at Sada's on Sept 27.  Sada, could you "reply all" to this message a few days before that and send out a reminder and directions?  It should be a great time!

Our last circle at Bonnie's was very special indeed.  New friends and old friends joined us and it was just delightful!  Thanks to all who came and especially to Darden for the talented accompaniment and the awesome songbooks (with big print!) and so many old favorites that are not in Rise Up Singing- what a treat! And to Linda for bringing her guitar- so glad you could make it again!  And thanks to Bonnie for hosting! Her space is filled with art and color and she shared the fruits of the harvest time- it was amazingly cozy and beautiful.

There is something really precious about this group, I feel.  There is a real welcoming, an inclusiveness, a dropping of all pretense or need to impress.  We come together just to share the joy of song and we can just be who we are in a very real way.   Sometimes, if I am tired or low, I don't want to socialize because I am not good company and I don't want to put myself out, but I can always come to song circle because there is nothing I have to do or say, just enjoy the music, and I am always lifted up and inspired.  So make the effort to come, even if you are tired, even if you are uncertain.  It is really fun and we will all be happy to see you!

Here  is a link to a great NPR story, from Linda:
Singing:  the key to a long life:  NPR story......please share!

And an invitation from Julie to help HRB with some singing- sounds great!:
Please join us!
The Housing Resources Board, HRB,  is inviting all to take part in our Annual Rise and Shine Breakfast Fundraising Event at Grace Church on Day Road, Saturday September 29.  Coffee Social begins at 8:30 am.
HRB will present a program about filling housing needs on Bainbridge and the very fun Bird House Auction will take place from 9 – 10:00 am.

HRB extends a special invitation to island singers calling for participation in a joyous singout at the breakfast event.
Rick Barrenger will perform a number and would like to have backing from the audience join in.
Brief rehearsals are planned at Grace on Friday 9/21 and 9/28 at 7 pm.

Please contact Wendy, Carla, or Julie at the HRB office to hear the details about joining “our voice” and/or to signup for the breakfast.  I hope you can join us.

Thank you for your support,

And one final announcement: Elizabeth and I are taking a group to Lake Atitlan in Guatemala Jan 10-17 2013. Please join us for this fabulous trip- It will be a cultural and spiritual tour of the region and we will have a ton of fun.

Until next time- keep singing!
Maria
