Can't wait to see you on Thurs at 7 at Darden's house for an evening of Christmas carols with Darden accompanying us on the piano.  If we have to be here in the cold, at least we can be singing together!!!!     Head to the south end of Bainbridge Island via Blakely Ave. 
          Pass Blakely School on at the top of hill and continue down the long hill to Port Blakely.
          Turn right onto Country Club Road.
          Drive approximately ¾ mile passing Fort Ward Hill Road.
          Turn right on Toe Jam Hill Road.
          Drive one mile. Turn right on Darden Lane at the large group of mailboxes.
          Turn left down the first driveway just before the horse barn. 
    The number on the gate is "10575". Drive down the long driveway to the house.

Hi singers!

I leave in a few days and I am so excited that I can't stop singing!!!!

Therese said that it would work for them to host the song circle at Sacred Groves on 1/23. Check sacredgroves.com for directions. That will be sure to be an amazing night- don't miss it. They have the beautiful round house which hosts many groups and events and is a perfect venue. Wish I could be there, but think of me- on the 23rd I will be heading to Lake Titicaca!

Therese will try to remember to "reply all" to this email and send a reminder closer to the date. I think you have to be a member of the songcircle google group to send an email to it, so those folks will have to remember on their own- write down the date now and plan to come!!

Hi singers,

What a sweet tribute to Pete last week.  He has 19 songs listed in the Artist section of Rise Up Singing and a host of other songs not in that book.   What an influence on music he has been, and such an inspiration for using song as a force for social change. It was very uplifting to dedicate the evening to him and very fun. 12 of us gathered and we had a blast. Thanks for coming! And thanks, Darden, for the accompaniment!

This unique ensemble formed by percussionists Christian Krehbiel, Chris Lennard, Criag Wende and Brian Yarkosky plays a variety of music including modern marimba repertoire and original arrangements of classical, jazz, and Afro-Cuban music. There's a speed hump & speed limit sign on water side of street opposite my house. Parking is limited so please carpool if possible. There are 2 spots in gravel parking area in front of house. Hi singers,

What a sweet, sweet time at Mary's last night.  There were 8 of us there, and it was just a great size for some harmonies and some sweet sharing about songs we have loved, musicians we have seen, and concerts we will never forget- including a lot of- " I remember when I first heard this song..." And "we sang this song at protests in the 60s and 70s- I have always loved this song!"  And there were some songs that we have learned more recently also. A great mix and a lot of fun.  And sitting in Mary's older home was a joy.  It is wonderful to be filled with a connection to the past and to feel nostalgic for times gone by, as you express what you are feeling in the moment and create a delightful new memory by sharing the experience.  Hurrah for song circles!  And we saw some returning friends and met a new person,  so a very successful evening!  Many thanks to Mary for hosting, to Darden for accompanying, and to Elizabeth and Lilly for sharing their gifts on the ukelele and drum,  to Bruce for being the only guy- we appreciate you so much!, and to everyone who came and gifted us with your presence and enthusiasm. 

Now we need to fill out our calendar with volunteer hosts.  We need someone for Feb 27th,  March 12, March 26, and April 9th.  Any takers?  It is really fun to host and blesses your home with a lot of joy.  So pick a day and have us come.  We will really appreciate it!

Congrats to Linda Owens on an awesome job in the One Acts!!! Will you do MY funeral breakfast?

The last circle at cohousing was so fun!  There were about 18 of us- thanks Rick for accompanying us, and Elizabeth too.  We had quite a few newbies and that was awesome, please come again!!!  Cohousing is a great space for us, and several residents joined us.  Thanks Elizabeth for hosting!

And I know this week will be lovely too, spring is here, it stays lighter longer, we can enjoy the view from Brooke's for a few minutes before the sun sets.

And we can raise our voices and make some music! Whoopee!!!

Drive west on Winslow Way all the way past Grow Avenue and Lovell Avenue.  Keep straight through the intersection marked "NO Outlet".  I'm in Sun Day Cove Condominiums, third driveway on the left.  

Park in front of either garage bay marked 611.  Or more parking is on Lovell and then walk down.

We will be at Sada's on 3/27 and then at Darden's on 4/10.  If you want to plan ahead, let me know if you want to host for: 4/24, 5/8, 5/22.   Remember I will send the email out for you, just get me directions to  your place, and you don't have to worry about serving refreshments- tea is nice, otherwise snacks and treats are optional-  folks can bring them if they want them, we come to sing, not eat.  On the other hand, any nibbles are most appreciated.

Spring is springing and what a lift it is to have these longer daylight hours and so many beautiful blossoms everywhere!  Hurrah, and let's celebrate with some singing!  The last circle at Brooke's was wonderful!!!  Thanks for hosting Brooke, and sharing your lovely home. Sure enough we were there in daylight and could watch the colors change over the harbor while we sang our selves into a feeling of peace and contentment.  Thanks Rick for the great accompaniment and to everyone who came and made it such a lovely evening.

Our next circle is this Thurs at Sada's amazing home, so put it on your calendar and come on out.  It is going to be great.   My  cell: 842-7706. Remember, you don't have to RSVP, but come if you can!!! We would love to see you there! Bring your Rise Up Singing if you have it, and if you have a song you like, bring copies of the words to share and we will give it a try. Everybody gets a turn to pick a song and anything goes, which is why we have such a great diversity of songs, and always a chance to learn new ones.

Hi folks!

Hope your spring is blossoming forth with great things happening.  It is such a beautiful time of year!!!  And we made it through the dark times and into the light again!  As you can see, I am enjoying the season a lot. 

We had a truly lovely time singing at Darden's.  There were 10 of us there and we did some rounds that just sounded great! Lots of other song choices- a real variety as usual.  Thanks to Darden for the accompaniment and for hosting and sharing your beautiful home- such an amazing view!!! I felt so uplifted when I left.  Singing circles are a great energy boost and a wonderful chance to express yourself in song, for me that is such a nice change from my usual moaning and groaning!! 

Hope to see many of you at Bonnie's this week, it is sure to be a great time, it always is-so fun to look at all the art at Bonnie's place and raise our voices together in her sweet space.  So come on out, just show up, bring your Rise Up Singing if you have it. 

 If you want to carpool from Winslow- I will be leaving from my office at Island Massage and Acupuncture in the old Wyatt House at about 6:45, so meet me there and call me at 842-7706

Going south on Blakely Avenue, go past Blakely School and then Islandwood (Environmental Learning Center) on your left.  Just as you see the Rich Passage ahead and are approaching West Blakely Road/hill, take a left turn on to an unmarked gravel road.  (There is a telephone pole with a reflector)  Our house is the second on the right (marked 4198).   If you go past this turnoff -- or are coming from the South End, look for Birkland Road.  Turn up hill on Birkland and look for the gravel road to your left, just after the row of mailboxes.  Our house will be the second on the left if you go this way.  Driveway space is limited; feel free to drive in and park on the grass.
