Can we change rule type?

Hello,

I have Sonar  Version 6.7.1  installed.   I know that I can change the severity of any rule, will I be able to change the rule type from bug --> code smell etc.

Hi,

Negative, the type of a rule is defined by the analyzer which implements it, based on the specification of that rule. The type of an issue can be modified if needed (e.g. you review a bug and observe that in its particular context it poses a security threat -> vulnerability), however you have no control over the type of rules.
