SonarQube Server ID while migration...

Hi All,

We have requirement where we have to migrate SonarQube server from one server to another. Do we have any migration procedure available ?

Also how can we preserve the same server ID while migrating to new server. Because we have some licensed plugins which are generated with that server ID.

Hi Shreedhar,

Assuming you're on 6.7, the server ID is now an instance ID, and stored in the database. Prior to that, you can't avoid having a new server ID when you move to a new server.

In terms of migration, you just want to install SonarQube on the new server, and update your configurations and plugins to match what's on the old server. Then you can shut down the old server and spin up the new one.

For 6.2, I believe you'll have to contact the office with your new server ID & get a new license. At the same time, they'll urge you to upgrade. :-D

Just installing SonarQube(same version as old 6.2) in New server and pointing it to same database as old (using same old sonar.properties file) will work ?
