All rules are deprecated in the Sonar Way (java) profile

Hi,

After upgrade our java plugin (4.06 -> 4.10) all rules in the Sonar Way profile are DEPRECATED and the new rules from the Java Analyzer are not used.

Is it normal ?

The version of sonarqube : 5.6.1.

Hi,

It appears that at some point you (or your predecessors) edited the Sonar Way profile to include rules from PMD, Checkstyle, and/or FindBugs. (Check the quality profile changelog to verify.)

It also appears that you upgraded more than just SonarJava. I say this because those deprecation notices are attacked to the rules in the plugins that supply them. They were deprecated because replacements are available in SonarJava.

You don't ask what you should do at this point, but I'll offer a suggestion anyway.

I would copy your existing Sonar Way to a new profile, then reset Sonar Way using Restore Built-in Profiles.  You can then compare the two to see the differences.

Hi Ann,

We made this rookie mistake a long time ago as well. While it's long been resolved have you thought about making the default rulesets read only? I'm sure we are not the only two that have been bit by this.
