Hi,

I am attempting to upgrade SonarQube from version 4.1.2 to 6.2.
After browsing the documentation, I am still struggling to answer two questions related to Sonar plugins.

Firstly, which versions of the 'SonarQube Scanner for Jenkins' are compatible with SonarQube 6.2?
And secondly, which versions of the 'SonarQube Scanner for Maven' are compatible with the same version?

The following sections did not seem to provide me with a definitive answer as to which versions were compatible with 6.2, only what versions of Jenkins and Maven the plugins supported respectively:

Hi James,

The right version of the  SonarQube Scanner for Maven should kick in automatically. For Jenkins, there shouldn't be any compatibility issues/questions.

Are you encountering some sort of problem, or just trying to do your homework beforehand?

Hi Ann

Thanks for your reply.

I am having to import everything I need into an external environment, so I must download the correct versions and install them offline. I have SonarQube 6.2, but require the versions of the Maven and Jenkins Scanner plugins that will be compatible with 6.2, so that I know what I can and can't use with it offline.

Am I interpreting you correctly that any Jenkins plugin will work, regardless of SonarQube's version? and if so, is that the same case with Maven?

Regards,

James

Hi James,

Since you're on 6.2, just grab the latest versions of the scanners and you should be fine.

I understand that the latest versions should be alright, but I would like to know which versions are compatible.
Allow me to rephrase my situation, I would like to know which versions of Maven and Jenkins I must have at a minimum for SonarQube 6.2 to function correctly.

For example, if Maven 2.2, 4.1.2 and 5.1 are compatible, I would like to know so that I can download and install the Maven 2.2 plugin.

Regards,

James

Hi James,

We simply don't keep a compatibility grid of scanners vs SonarQube. But I can tell you that for SonarQube 6.2, you need Maven 3, and as stated on the SonarQube Scanner for Maven page

From maven-sonar-plugin 3.1, Maven < 3.0 is no longer supported.
If using Maven prior to 3.0, you should use maven-sonar-plugin 3.0.2.

Hi Ann,

Sorry for the late reply.

The reason for me wanting to know the scanner version compatibility is because we are trying to avoid updating Jenkins and Maven if possible on our isolated environment, so I needed to know if the SonarQube plugins for the versions of Jenkins and Maven we have installed would be compatible with Sonar 6.2. But if that information is not available then I will need to find another way.
Thank you for your assistance, and if you do know of anywhere that I may be able to find a comparability matrix for Sonar and it's versions of plugins, please let me know.

James
