Is there currently any plan to create a SonarLint plugin for NetBeans?

Hi Dave,

There is currently no plan since you are the first to ask :) AFAIK part of Java developers using Netbeans is very low so I'm not sure we'll invest on it in short term.

Hi Julien,

I would also vote for a Netbeans integration with SonarLint...
So you have now two developers who requested for integration... ;-)

I would like to debunk your statement: "Java developers using Netbeans is very low"

Because numbers suggests otherwise (only based on google search): https://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=NetBeans%20IDE%2C%20Eclipse%20IDE%2C%20Visual%20Studio%20IDE%2C%20%2Fm%2F03v0mn&cmpt=q&tz=Etc%2FGMT-2

Another source, which also gives some feedback (maybe opinionated): https://blogs.oracle.com/geertjan/entry/two_recent_ide_polls_odd

It is in the top 3 (statistics of 2014): https://zeroturnaround.com/rebellabs/java-tools-and-technologies-landscape-for-2014/6/

What can I do as an user of netbeans in order to get support for a SonarLint plugin?

Kind regards,

Jurrian

Hi guys,

Thanks for the feedback (would have been better on SonarLint mailing list). Just to be clear: we are not opposed to a Netbeans integration, but we don't have the bandwidth to support one more IDE currently. Also nobody at SonarSource is using Netbeans AFAIK.

If you are really interested the best option would be to start a community contribution. The "analysis" engine is already a separate library (sonarlint-core) so the work can really focus on Netbrans integration/UI.

If someone is interested to lead this project, please continue discussion on SonarLint mailing list.

I just found the radar-netbeans plugin for NetBeans.  It works awesomely and totally fills the need we have for this.
