Hi.

When trying to install SonarLint on Eclipse Luna by using the MarketPlace (which suggests version 3.3), I get the error message

Unable to read repository at https://eclipse-uc.sonarlint.org/content.xml.
sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

The URL <https://eclipse-uc.sonarlint.org/content.xml>, when opened in a browser, returns a 404 HTTP error code.

(On Eclipse Neon the same thing happens.)

When trying to install the 3.3 zip from the web site into Eclipse Luna, I get the error

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed
session context was:(profile=epp.package.jee, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

(On Eclipse Neon, this method just succeeded. But actually, in the company I work for, Eclipse Luna still is the preferred IDE.)

How am I to install SonarLint into Eclipse Luna?

Thanks for your time,
Wolfgang

Hi Wolfgang,

This is a composite update site, as specified in the https://eclipse-uc.sonarlint.org/p2.index

So your Eclipse should look for:

I don't understand why it is looking for content.xml.

HI Julien,

thanks for looking into this.

So, what should I do? I've tried using <https://eclipse-uc.sonarlint.org/compositeContent.xml> as an update site url, but this gives me

sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target

as well.

Called within a browser, it resolves and replies with an xml structure. This looks good to me.

Regards,
Wolfgang

You can try updating your JDK to the latest version (I remember there was an issue with SSL certificates).

As a fallback, you can manually download the update site archive:

Well. The same thing happens using JDK8_152. (113 was the one I used previously.) See my first post for the error message I get even when I try to install from the downloaded zip.

However, the Eclipse "Error Log" shows errors reading "PKIX path building failed" from several Eclipse plugins, even from the ones already installed into Eclipse successfully. I will try to get someone from our net / security team to look into this. I will keep you informed what they say.

Thanks so far,
Wolfgang
