Hi all,

We would like to release SonarLint for Visual Studio 3.0 and are waiting for your feedback.

Important: this is a milestone build, and (a bit) more development is in progress for this release.

The main feature of this release is JavaScript support, to be activated by explicit user action, off by default. The first time you open a solution, a pop-up will ask if you would like to install and activate JavaScript support. This pop-up will appear only once. You can use the Tools / Options / SonarLint settings to activate/deactivate JavaScript support later. When you activate JavaScript support, the extension will download a zip containing SonarLint Daemon, with SonarJS and Java JRE embedded. The daemon is a Java process, capable to run analyzers implemented in Java, such as SonarJS, our analyzer for JavaScript. SonarLint communicates with the daemon over a simple gRPC protocol over a local port. When JavaScript support is activated, the daemon is started as soon as any solution is opened, and shuts down when VS is shut down.

In this first release of JavaScript support, the features are limited compared to .NET analyzers. Analysis of JavaScript code is performed when you save or open a file, not on the fly. Connected mode is not supported.

Here is the download link:

Thank you for testing this new version and providing your feedback before 12/05/2017.

Cheers,
Janos
