You can also create a Note Comment by clicking on the Note tool . This is the commenting tool to use when you need to ask questions, make suggestions, or discuss the content with other people that are working on the document.

Annotation is a widely used feature in PDF documents. It allows users to highlight, underline, or strikethrough text in PDF documents. Annotation can also be used to add notes and comments to PDF documents.

There are many software programs that allow users to annotate PDF documents. One of the most popular programs is Foxit Reader. Foxit Reader allows users to add various types of annotation to PDF documents. In addition, it offers a variety of other features, such as the ability to view, print, and convert PDF documents.

Zotero allows you to add notes to your sources. Adding notes directly to a source has many potential uses, but it's the best method for saving and organizing your notes on physical resources (e.g. print books, articles, and etc.). With electronic resources, it's best to take notes directly in the article and extract them using Zotfile.

Using a pdf editor in combination with Zotero and Zotfile will allow you to take notes directly in your pdfs, extract them to the "Notes" tab in Zotero, and jump directly to the pages of the article that include notes. Zotero will work with any pdf editor, but Foxit Reader will be used for the demonstration below.

There are two ways to take notes in most pdf readers: highlighting and notes. Highlighting will highlight text that will later be extracted to Zotero's notes tab. Highlighting is great for pulling portions of articles that you would like to quote directly in your writing. Notes will allow you to respond to articles, save them inside the article, and later extract them to Zotero using Zotfile. Notes are a great way to respond to an article and get your ideas down as your read.

Once you highlight text and create notes inside a pdf, you will need to extract these annotations to see them in Zotero. After doing so, they will appear in the "Notes" tab along with clickable citations that will allow you to jump directly to associated pages in the document.

3. When clicked, the blue references after each note will take you directly to the page of the document on which the note was created. You can also add further notations if you wish. Depending on your preferences, you can rely entirely on highlights, then annotate them in Zotero after they have been extracted. Or you can create notes as you read. Experiment to see which method works best for you:

Be Active: Actively write your own thoughts and reactions to the article as you read it. Consider summing up the main point of the argument as you read a source. This will make writing literature reviews and annotated bibliographies much easier later on.

Be Creative with Print Sources: If you would like to take notes on a print book or article, consider taking notes directly in Zotero's note feature. You could also take notes in a Word or Google Doc and attach it to the citation manually.

While reading PDFs and saving PDF files has never really been easier, very few of these programs allow the user to make markups or annotations to PDF files for which you are not the original author. Adobe recently added the ability to add sticky notes and highlights to PDF files using Reader. Fortunately one of the free third-party PDF readers out there has even more features. With Foxit Reader you can add notes, draw lines boxes and other shapes, type text onto the file, and add your own bookmarks.

Foxit PDF Reader 12.0 is still available for free, but it comes as a hefty 160 Megabyte installation package that users need to download. The application itself requires more than 500 Megabytes of free disk space. The installer includes everything that is needed to run a Foxit PDF Editor trial, which may explain the size.

As far as changes in the new version are concerned, there are a couple that users may like. One of the changes introduces support for viewing two PDF documents side-by-side in the same Foxit window, which improves comparisons and reviews. Another feature introduces support for reverting PDF files to previously saved versions.

Commenting and reviewing supports several new features. Comments may be exported as FDF or XFDF files, and there is an option to import XDFD comments. Other commenting options include filtering and sorting comments by color, and the ability to edit and reply to comments from the Comments panel.

Offer improved user interface for better usability with new fonts, distinct colors for icons and backgrounds, and more, and better software accessibility for users using keyboard controls and screen readers.

Who does Foxit belong to ? Its site says it has headquarters in the United States, but I wrote down in my notes a while ago that it was China-owned. I cannot find any hints to that effect on its website. Does anyone know for sure ?

It is too bad that it has gotten so large over the years, but it is still pretty fast, and features like document filling and signing are useful. Occasionally I get the urge to see what else is out there, but so nothing else has swayed me away from Foxit Reader.

One of the aspects of being a part of the MSA cohort is getting accustomed to the pace that the subjects are covered. The curriculum is as intense as it is interesting, thanks to the numerous topics covered throughout the Summer, Fall, and Spring semesters.

You can add code snippets, math equations, and quotes to your notes. You can even embed YouTube videos and images from the internet in just a few clicks. I am a fan of the reminders you can add to a specific part of the note. I often forget to review a concept, but this feature has come to my rescue during the program as it appears in the form of a notification on both the desktop and the mobile app.

Another template I use for both the program and in my personal life is the To-Do list. The default To-Do template provides quick and easy categories for the status of the items in the list. I regularly add action items, sometimes those due many weeks later. This list serves as a constant reminder about the actions to be done. As I move the items to DONE, I get a sense of accomplishment, which helps me assess my progress.

Foxit is a completely free application for working with PDF files. After having used it for more than five years at this point, I am confident that Foxit is the only PDF application I will ever need. It goes above and beyond serving as a mere viewer, with some great functionality under its belt.

Foxit allows you to add custom bookmarks for a PDF file that can help you navigate to a particular section of the document. Be it a lecture handout or an e-book with hundreds of pages, these bookmarks can take you to precise locations in the file with the exact zoom scale and scroll you had when you created the bookmark. In addition, Foxit allows you to draw, comment, and add text on top of pages in the PDF file. There are smart options to add a squiggly underline, highlight, or even strikethrough the text in the file.

Long gone are the days when people could only read a PDF. Now, thanks to advanced PDF editors, you can do all sorts of editing features. One of the most widely used features when reviewing Word documents was the "add comment" feature. Fortunately, it is now possible to do so with PDF files as well.

Likewise, it is also possible to print your PDF files, with your comments included! By printing an annotated PDF, you can easily read the annotations and show them to your friends or coworkers as you all review the file. If you want to learn how to print PDF with comments or mark-ups, stick around to see how to get it done.

Step 3. As you read the options, you will need to click on "Commenting". If you want to let Adobe Reader know that you want to print your comments as well, you will need to select "Print notes and pop-ups."
