The first is the software based global illumination, called SVOGI (Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination), which produces a scene that makes sense from a natural light point of view. This instantly makes for a much more convincing world than the original did. The engine is also capable of producing accurate reflections, particularly on Nomad's Nanosuit, which can be seen in the numerous cutscenes.

This is the NEW list of all currently available graphics cards that are DirectX 12 and DirectX 11 capable, along with links to product details for each, courtesy of Amazon.

Crysis, built in the CryEngine 2, was capable of a 32.2m pixel spread across a 12 joule range, displayed in a dynamically generated four-part volumetric resource buffer. This meant a broad spectrum resonance in the upper 40s, with significant occlusion.

Since the first game in the series spawned the "Can it run Crysis?" meme, it's no surprise to see that Crysis 3 lives up to the series' reputation for advanced graphical prowess. Crysis 3 not only supports DirectX 11 right out of the box, it requires it: if your GPU and OS aren't DX11-capable, you won't be able to play the game. The latest iteration of Crytek's CryEngine, used to power Crysis 3, packs almost every form of eye candy possible in a modern PC game, and as a result, if you turn up the settings, the game will punish even the mightiest of systems.

The game uses SVOGI (Sparse Voxel Octree Global Illumination), a lighting technique that makes Crysis Remastered look distinctly impressive compared to the original. The upgraded engine is capable of producing accurate reflections and players can see real time reflections on Nomad's suit in cutscenes.

Now, about the Win7 machine, covering about 2007-2016 or so I guess, lets say up to the point where DX12/Vulkan games started releasing more often (I'll build yet another win10 machine for 2016+ games later) I feel like its a good time to plan it out now. With Intel Kaby Lake and AMD Ryzen not officially supporting win7 anymore, its pretty obvious what would be the best motherboard and cpu for win7, but its still not clear what would be the best graphics card. Nvidia has not dropped support for Win7 yet, Pascal has win7 drivers and Volta might have win7 drivers too. This machine should be capable of perfectly running DX10 and DX11 games, as well as OpenGL 3 to 4.5. Im fairly sure I'll have no issues with DX11 / OGL games regardless of graphics card choice, but I've been wondering if there's any issues with DX10 games on the latest nvidia models?

The retail Windows version accommodates higher-resolution textures beyond the console versions, and supports video cards capable of running DirectX 11 in addition to DirectX 10, allowing for further graphical improvements to the game.

By the way i kinda think multiplayer games are killing the single player experience(thinking about buying a Nintendo system again). Games are all about online Look at RE5 big disappointment compared to 4 when it comes to that surval feeling. I blame it on FPS fans and i also blame it on Multiplayers. its not like Crytek did a great job on crysis 2 and they probably holded off the texture patch+directx 11 to clean it up.

Make no mistake - even the entry-level enthusiasts' graphics cards of a few years ago effortlessly annihilate the RSX and Xenos graphics cores in the current generation consoles. The venerable NVIDIA 8800GT - for years an enthusiast favourite, and still capable of running most new titles adequately - has the consoles beaten in terms of available RAM, bandwidth, stream processors and virtually any other metric you would care to mention. It can run the original Crysis in all its unoptimised glory at a fair old lick, even at 1080p - something that the consoles can't match, even running on the more streamlined CryEngine 3.
