For the mechanically inclined, this Artisan's Asylum series sounds like a different beast from your typical bike maintenance class!  Starts next week.

To spring,
Alex

Hello,

In March I'm teaching two bike repair classes at the Artisans Asylum. As you're bicycle-inclined, I thought you might be interested in attending, or perhaps you know someone else who would be. Feel free to forward this or send any questions my way.

Doug

Build Up Your Bike

http://buildupyourbikemarch2013.eventbrite.com

This class is for anyone who wants to understand how the bike is put together, and what all the systems on it do. You supply the frame and parts, and I'll supply the know-how to assemble it.

For people getting this email, I'll be glad to help pull any parts off your existing bike in advance of the class (gratis) for the sake of either reassembling that bike or moving the parts over to a new frame.

The class is run Sundays, 1-4 pm from March 24 through April 14 (four weeks).

Wheel Building

http://bikewheelbuildingmarch2013.eventbrite.com/

Bike wheel building is a satisfying and inexpensive alternative to purchasing a prebuilt wheel. I'll show you the science of building a strong wheel, and demystify the "art" it takes to build one. We will discuss everything you need to know for future wheel projects, including measuring, lacing, truing, and design considerations.

The class is run Mondays, 7-9:30 pm from March 18 through March 25.
