Friends of Songwriters in the Round, we have an exciting announcement. We are taking the show on the road! (Which road? Well, specifically, you go down school street to Somerville Ave and make a left.) On March 4th, Songwriters in the Round will be held at the illustrious Bow Market https://www.bowmarketsomerville.com/ in the Upstairs at Bow room. https://www.upstairsatbow.com/
Perennial fan favorite Nora Meier will be on hand. So will guitar and banjo virtuoso G Rockwell. And Lindsay Foote — did you know she won a national songwriting award last year? — she will be there too. David Thorne Scott will be hosting.

Songwriters in the Round is a warm, welcoming event where people can enjoy food and drink as well as chance meetings and conversation. But everyone becomes quiet when four songwriters take the stage to take turns playing songs, occasionally joining each other on harmony vocals or guitar licks. In between songs, the audience listens while the performers discuss music and life in general. “I was inspired by the ‘guitar pulls’ of the Bluebird Café in Nashville,” host David Thorne Scott says, “but with a wider variety. There is folk and country, but also rock, R&B, soul, jazz, and musical theater.”
Held on the first and third Wednesdays of each month from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The event is free but you may want to donate $10-$20 for the performers.

Our songwriters this week
Nora Meier is a diehard music fan, a frequent moviegoer, a daughter of two English majors, an Oregonian at heart, a verbal processor, a big reader, extremely stubborn, and always writing. She was raised on her dad’s curated mixtapes and epic vinyl collection, which cultivated her deep love for the format of The Album and an obsession with Bruce Springsteen. Her debut album, Outfield, was released in October of 2024. It was born during a full moon / lunar eclipse on a farm in Connecticut with the help of some of her favorite musicians. Eleven songs were tracked in seven days, interspersed by basketball scrimmages, deli trips and walks around a big field. The album was produced and mixed by Charles Dahlke (The Brazen Youth) and mastered by Andrew Goldring. Nora lives in Boston, Massachusetts. https://www.norameiermusic.com/
Fresh off her Grand Prize win at the 2025 NewSong Performance & Songwriting Competition, Lindsay Foote has been lighting up stages throughout the Northeast.” A regularly featured artist on CBS's "The Young and The Restless," Lindsay's music blends folk traditions, pop sensibilities, and an Americana edge. Backed by a dynamic band, her welcoming stage presence invites the audience on a journey through the highs and lows of the human experience. In 2022, G won the Freshgrass competition award for banjo.
G Rockwell’s unique style of Americana sits somewhere between the traditions of bluegrass and gypsy jazz; with the modern influences of artists like David Grisman and Tony Trischka. G brings a cross-cultural sound into his original music with global influences from Celtic fiddle music to Middle Eastern folk tunes. Graduating from the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in 2024; G performs and teaches on multiple instruments. When he isn't performing with G Rockwell Band, you might find him on stage with Jacob's Ladder, Bookmatch, Cahaba Roots or High Horse. G has worked on multiple studio album/EP projects with bands, playing guitar, banjo and mandolin. His original compositions have been released on Spark! Your host, David Thorne Scott, is a piano-playing singer and songwriter in jazz and Americana styles. A longtime resident of Somerville, he organized Songwriters in the Round to foster a creative, dynamic music scene here.
