About the Event
To kick off the evening, Marc will share insights into his personal artistic style and the unique characteristics that define a traditional Haitian landscape. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or curious beginner, you’ll be guided through a step-by-step process, starting with broad brushstrokes to build your background before layering on the vibrant details that make your piece pop. No need to have prior painting experience and we will provide the supplies.
As you create, Chef Maritza will keep your creative flow going with a feast of authentic Haitian flavors, including crispy fried pork belly (griot), savory plantain fritters, and refreshing coconut mocktails.

About Nibble
Nibble is a Somerville Arts Council (SAC) initiative that celebrates culinary-cultural exchange, spurs cultural economic development & supports immigrant communities. Nibble grew out of SAC’s ArtsUnion project, which has transformed Union Square, Somerville through innovative cultural economic development work.
Nibble started with tours of Union Square’s international markets; these spawned a blog, then a book. Next we added cooking classes, then food festivals like the Ignite Festival, and next, a culinary entrepreneurship program that includes vending opportunities. Read about the overall Nibble program in this Boston Globe article from July 19, 2017. Nibble remains a multifaceted program, including public programming, the entrepreneurship program focused on our rich immigrant communities, and the Nibble restaurant.
