July 26th | 10AM - 12PM | 32 Shore Drive, near Blessing of the Bay Boathouse
A one-of-a-kind, site-specific celebration created for this place, this history, and this community.

Blessing of the Bay honors the legacy of the innovative Blessing of the Bay ship and Massachusetts’s first Governor, John Winthrop, while acknowledging the complex narratives of Indigenous peoples and Black Africans impacted by these histories.
Enjoy captivating performances by:
Morning Star Singers – An Indigenous drum group honoring the area’s first peoples.
Anna-Celestrya Carr – Indigenous dancer.
De Ama Battle’s African Music and Dance Group – Arts educator and founder of the Art of Black Dance and Music, Inc., uniting the African diaspora through dance, music, and folklore since 1975.
Aimee Ledwell – Storyteller and community art project leader.
This event is presented in partnership with the Department of Racial and Social Justice and supported by the City of Somerville and the Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism’s MA250 grant program.
