Hello!

I'd love to share an upcoming show, When the Music Starts, I’ll Know at The Loov in Somerville.

Part live performance and part oral history project, the work draws from conversations with 13 lifelong female dancers and artists whose creative lives we deeply admire. Over the last 18 months, we’ve been gathering stories and reflections about sustaining an artistic life, and the ways dance becomes woven into identity, belonging, and community.

The performance features live piano underscoring, and traditional dance and music with Aubrey Atwater Donnelly, Cait Bracken, Maureen Doyle, and Alanna Callendrello, with music by Neil Pearlman and Laura Feddersen. Co-produced by Jackie O'Riley and Rebecca McGowan.

You are warmly invited to join us!

When the Music Starts, I'll Know offers reflections of what it means to be a dancer, told through the voices of 13 lifelong artists. Join Jackie O’Riley & Rebecca McGowan, May 30-31 at The Loov in Somerville, for an evening of traditional dance and music to celebrate these stories, featuring dancers Aubrey Atwater Donnelly, Cait Bracken, Maureen Doyle, and Alanna Callendrello. Audio collages exploring themes of sanctuary and identity, with live piano underscoring by Neil Pearlman (music director), frame the evening; and fiddle player Laura Feddersen lifts the dancing with her eminently gritty, rhythmic, flowing playing.
