SOMERVILLE ARTS COUNCIL & THE INSIDE-OUT GALLERY PRESENT

THE SOMERVILLE OPEN STUDIOS 2025 MEMBERS SHOW

The arts are alive in Somerville! This year, Somerville Open Studios (SOS), the Somerville Arts Council and the Inside-OUT Gallery feature a bustling bevy of both first-time members and seasoned artists for the SOS 2025 members’ exhibit.

Exhibit Theme: Flourish
Our creative community has strong roots. Despite obstacles, we persevere and FLOURISH!! With over 100 locations citywide, Somerville Open Studios offers the public the ability to view locally produced pieces, behind-the-scenes discoveries, and many other captivating creative adornments. In the spirit of the theme “FLOURISH”, the exhibiting Inside-Out gallery artists were asked to explore ways that art can thrive, grow, bloom, or to attract attention. The selected pieces on view not only give playful depictions of this theme but showcases an eclectic array of interpretations ranging from the hustle-and-bustle of urban life, lust landscapes of flora and fauna, elaborate sculptures, ornate decorative illustrations, and bold abstract explorations……….. for all to enjoy! This is just the tip of the iceberg. With nearly 400 artists featured, there is much more abundant energy to be found around the ‘Ville; so, come celebrate with the Somerville art community and experience the enduring power of self-expression through art.

SOMERVILLE ARTS COUNCIL & THE INSIDE-OUT GALLERY PRESENT

THE SOMERVILLE OPEN STUDIOS 2026 MEMBERS SHOW

A perennial favorite, Somerville Open Studios returns on May 2 & 3rd to bring art to the masses. As a part of this tradition, Somerville Open Studios, the Somerville Arts Council and the Inside-OUT Gallery present a diverse array of works from seasoned members and newcomers for this annual show

Inside-Out Gallery Exhibit Theme: Reflecting on “RE”

In May, SOS is revving up for another citywide art extravaganza. With over 400 artists participating, Open Studios reflects on renewed energy that can be seen at every corner of our 4 square mile little city. Whether it’s funky installations, dynamic projections or bold visual art, our creative community is rebounding with its trademark vigor.

Art is transitional, ebbing and flowing with the changing tides. As artists, we are observers and respond by our surroundings. This year, Somerville Open Studios’ s explores this concept with its open-ended existential theme “RE” and its various uses. “Re”, by definition, can mean “again,” “back,” or “anew” as well signaling the repetition of an action (e.g., redo, rebuild) or a backward motion/reversal (e.g., reflect, return). From resistance art to works from recycled material, artists have interpreted this theme in a variety of ways, resulting in a fabulous eclectic showcase for all to enjoy.
