Hello, I'm a Somerville-based musician and I'm teaching a Songwriting class in Lexington through the Lexington Community Education program. It's 4 classes starting on Wednesday 5/6, and running weekly on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-8:30pm for 4 sessions. The class will cover everything from approaches to writing lyrics, discovering melodies and cultivating inspiration. As for me, I am a professional musician who has performed, recorded with and produced for Grammy award winning artists. Throughout the class I will be pulling from many experiences I've had in the music industry in many genres and recording formats.
The official description for the class is: "It’s commonly thought that we each have unique soundtracks to our lives. Here’s a chance to take authority and authorship of your own musical, biographical soundtrack. We will discuss a wide variety of songwriting tools and genres including song form, chord progressions, and melodic ideas ranging in styles. These ideas can be applied to any instrument or voice. We will also practice a bit of basic recording using free programs in order to record demos. Please bring any portable primary instrument with you to class."
