CALL FOR ARTISTS: IDLE FEST 3

A summer variety show featuring artists of all disciplines!

Idle Hands Theater Collective is excited to share a call for applications for our third annual Idle Fest, our four-day creative collision produced in collaboration with the Brookline/Cambridge Community Center for the Arts, Inc. (BCCA / CCCA).

WHAT: This is a devised theatre festival at heart—with a twist. You will be matched with a team of artists across disciplines and challenged to create an original performance in just three days. On the fourth day, you’ll present your piece twice to live audiences. Think: ballerina meets drummer. DJ meets puppeteer, opera meets beatboxer, poet meets....who knows? We're excited to see what you create! Check out previous Idle Fests here.

WHO: We welcome both seasoned and emerging artists (ages 18+), across all genres and abilities. The rehearsal and performance venues are fully ADA accessible. We are seeking 12 performers looking to truly bend the boundaries of the stage, together. While out of town performers are welcome to submit, we are not able to offer artist housing at this time.

WHEN: Submission deadline is Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 11:59pm

PERFORMANCE DATES:

- Saturday, August 22nd: Orientation

- Tuesday, August 25th - 27th: Rehearsal & Development

- Saturday, August 29th: 2pm and 7pm Shows

Compensation:

All artists will receive:

- Revenue share from the show(s)

- Footage and photos of your performance
