You’re invited to New Alliance Gallery’s second annual Synth-tember!Celebrating the vibrant intersection of art and science, this event series—co-curated by Jess Baggia and Allison Tanenhaus—invites attendees to engage, explore, and experience the profound impact of these two fields. All free, all September long.
• First, come on down to our
Opening Reception (this Friday, 9/12, 7–11 pm), kicking off an art-tech exhibition titled "Deviations," featuring 27 local and regional artists. Live performances include This Bliss’s album release of
‘Grave of Sound,’ DJ A.C. Wiley of High Energy Vintage, and a special
appearance by Eugene Mirman.
• Then, get hands-on at
Synth-tember Community Day (Saturday, 9/26, 12–6 pm), a free, all-ages day of activities—lectures, a synthesizer petting zoo, exhibition of local vendors, and a theremin workshop in partnership with the Cambridge Hackspace and Cram Audio*—focused on education and experimentation.
* Please sign up for the theremin building workshop in advance to secure your spot and kit— I'm particularly psyched about this event, as I will be leading a workshop on connecting your contemporary media to old-school CRT TVs! (Thanks to the Mass Cultural Council and Somerville Arts Council for supporting this 2025 SAC Artist Fellowship Community Benefit Project.)
