Lexington Utility Box Painting Project 2026
Call for artists to paint a large utility box in Lexington, MA this Summer.
Open to all interested artists, in or out of Lexington.
This summer, the Lexington Council for the Arts will continue its effort to transform some of the town’s utility boxes into unique works of art. Utility boxes sit on street corners and sidewalks and parks, holding all the equipment that keeps our town ticking. They hold traffic light controls, cable connections, electric transformers and more.
We invite interested artists to submit up to three original designs by May 25, 2026, to be considered for this year’s jury. This design should be bold, colorful, and creative. Project to be completed by August 31.
This is a large size box located at Lincoln Park, 100 Lincoln Street, Lexington, MA. This park has athletic fields, a children’s playground, a fitness trail, and is surrounded by nature. We encourage you to visit for design inspiration. The stipend is $1000 for this large box.
