Songwriters in the Round at
Arts at the Armory on November 5 is going to have a slightly different slant.
Mira Goto is back, bringing her Laurel Canyon-goes-to-Nashville sparkle. Up-and-comer
Steve Rondo will perform his powerful coming-of-age anthem rock.
Hayley Sabella is like your cool aunt, if your cool aunt was slinging a hollow-body 1965 Gibson guitar. And
Lindsay Foote
comes all the way from the deep south (of Somerville) to host this
group with her characteristic warmth and wit, while rocking you with a
steady groove.
Want to join the ranks of sponsor? Sponsorships
keep us humming because they provide the four songwriters and sound
engineer a base fee of $40 each, regardless of how much we earn in tips.
It may not sound like much, but that bit of appreciation can be the
difference between a performer coming to share joy with our community,
or deciding to stay home and watch Netflix. Please get in touch if you
can help.

Armory Café is a warm, welcoming place where people can enjoy food and
drink as well as chance meetings and conversation. But everyone becomes
quiet when four songwriters take the stage to take turns playing songs,
occasionally joining each other on harmony vocals or guitar licks. In
between songs, the audience listens while the performers discuss music
and life in general. “I was inspired by the ‘guitar pulls’ of the
Bluebird Café in Nashville,” host David Thorne Scott says, “but with a
wider variety. There is folk and country, but also rock, R&B, soul,
jazz, and musical theater.”
Held on the first and third
Wednesdays of each month from 7:00-8:30 p.m. This program is supported
with a small grant from the Somerville Arts Council, a local agency
supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council. The event is free but
you may want to donate $10-$20 for the performers.
Part of the ROOTED Armory Café Series. Food, snacks, coffee, tea, beer and wine available!
You
might hear a young up-and-coming pro, an established mid-career
performer and mentor, and a cherished elder of the scene -- all sharing
music. The growing relationships will warm your heart and enrich your
soul. Come every week as the lineup shifts and new friends are made.
All ages welcome.

http://eepurl.com/c2gNWfOur songwriters this weekSteve Rondo
is a songwriter for his indie-rock band from Boston, MA. They released
their debut Fate Loves the Fearless, featuring Matches (described as
“stadium-ready Americana” by 92.5 FM The River and Afternoon Rebellion
(featured on Spotify's editorial playlist Fresh Finds Indie). Their
songs attempt to tackle coming-of-age stories channeled through rock
anthems that anyone in their 20s can relate to. The group formed in 2017
just after graduating college when they thrusted themselves out into
the real world, playing four nights a week at every bar and club nestled
between the neighborhoods of Boston all the way down to the far reaches
of outer Cape Cod.

music is just shy of fitting in. Massachusetts-born but
Nicaragua-raised, Hayley mixes gripping melodies with honest, intimate
lyrics to create sonic landscapes both spare and lush, all delivered
with unabashed earnestness. Hayley’s distinct style has led to
invitations to support legendary artists including Emmylou Harris, Ry
Cooder, and Ryley Walker, to name a few. Her music has garnered acclaim
from Rolling Stone Country, Billboard, and The Bluegrass Situation,
among other publications.
https://www.hayleysabella.comCountry music pulses through the veins of
Mira Goto,
an undeniable part of her musical DNA long before she made the move to
Nashville. Hailing from Santa Cruz, California, this singer-songwriter
has seamlessly woven her enchanting blend of country and pop into the
fabric of the vibrant Nashville music scene. With a compelling
personality, exceptional musicianship, and undeniable charm, Goto stands
as the total package.

Lindsay Foote,
writes music of the heart. Combining folk traditions, modern pop, and
an Americana edge, her sound is at once familiar and fresh. The 2nd
place winner of the Songwriter Serenade Competition has been featured on
CBS and recognized in several national songwriting competitions. When
she’s not songwriting, Lindsay spends her time rock climbing, hosting
dinner parties, and trying to keep her house plants alive. She is doing a
full band show at Club Passim soon, so here’s your chance to hear her
first in a more intimate environment.
