Some book

A distant cousin of mine came upon a large, very rare book, a first
printing signed by the author. He's says it's very important to some
friends of his, and will not give it to anyone other than them. I
asked him if I could see it, and he only said, "I need to know the
password, your division, your rank and your serial number. And since
you're no Mortem, I guess you don't have any of those." What could he
mean?
It must be some book...

I just caught a glimpse of the book, but all I could tell was that
it's called Dark Revelations, and it's written by Jason something or
other.

I don't read, it's just that, well, that cypher really creeped me out.
