Summer is certainly here now! We are watching all of our garden
plants take off in the heat, and looking forward to good harvests!
This week we have two lettuces to offer: a curly red leaf and a
speckled romaine. This lettuce will be sold by the head for $3/head.
We also have garlic scapes to offer this week! Garlic scapes are one
of those little known delicacies of the garden, but are becoming
increasingly popular in the gourmet scene as local, organic food gains
it's place in that world! If you're not familiar with scapes, check
out this article: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/mighty-appetite/2006/06/my_friend_the_garlic_scape_1.html
Use Google to find lots of other information and recipes as well!
Last night we fried some scapes up in butter to drizzle over baby
potatoes. Delicious! The scapes are being offered at a small bunch
of 10-12 scapes for $1. If you would like to place an order this
week, please e-mail me at mer...@somedaygardens.com. If ordering
lettuce, please let me know a day in advance so that I can harvest
fresh on the morning you'd like it. Thank you, and enjoy the heat!
