On the recommendation of our friend Lisa, we wanted to post that we
are selling our dog-friendly condo in Davis Square. It is an open,
loft-style condo (1492 square feet, including a south facing deck)
with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The unit comes with its own 150
square foot storage room, and the condo has an on-site fitness center.
It is on the corner of Foskett and Willow Streets, just blocks from
Davis Square. Most importantly, the condo association allows one dog
up to 20 pounds, although this is very flexible. There is a great
fenced-in side yard for running and playing. Our Chow Chow, Floyd, has
enjoyed 3 wonderful years here, and we just love the place, but are
now moving to the suburbs.

The address:

4 Foskett Street
Unit #2

The listing: http://www.newenglandmoves.com/real-estate/property/4-foskett-st-somerville-ma-02144/condo/mls-71223072/1240562

We are doing an open house on Sunday from noon to 1:30 pm, and we
would be happy to set up a private showing, if interested.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at
617-899-0752.

Best,
Robyn, Jason & Floyd

Under 20 pounds and flexible sounds dog friendly for many dog owners, though clearly not all. It works for me and out dog, and would work for many I see out and about in the neighborhood.

I agree with Frank, This certainly does not appear to me as a "dog
friendly" condo! All my life I had dogs, in particular, Boxers, who were
all between 65-70 lbs.
and am certain that most of the Somerville Dog Owners love their pets, large
or small.

You certainly should reconsider, Robyn.

Ursula

A condo that is _not_ "dog friendly" would prohibit the ownership of
any dog period. I think that is something we could find consensus
on.

But there will always be a difference in opinion of what constitutes
"dog friendly". My condo docs prevent anyone from owning/running a
dog breeding organization from the condo. Does this mean it is
suddenly not "dog friendly" because they don't allow every expression
of dog ownership in the condo regulations?

This condo clearly allows <20 lb dogs and provides means to petition
for a larger dog. Clearly the current trustees are ok with some large
dogs because the current owner has a Chow which is a >20 lb dog.

Alright I really wish everyone would settle down here and stop ganging
up on Robyn who doesn't have control over the condo board.

Robin made it clear that it's "20 pounds, although this is very
flexible." Robyn owns a Chow that happens to be on the small side for
a Chow, but her dog is definitely not a "small dog". Any condo
association that would allow a Chow in their building is OBVIOUSLY
open-minded. Please let's stop being so judgemental here. Robyn's
initial posting is still entirely valid in my opinion, and I say that
as the owner of two dogs over 70lb each.

Thank you to Justin and everyone else who provided their opinions of
and support for my initial post. The last thing I wanted to do was
cause any controversy. As someone who struggled to find a dog-friendly
condo for purchase in Davis Square, I wanted to share our listing to
possibly save others the same trouble. As I stated, 20 pounds is
flexible, and our 45 pound Chow Chow certainly bypasses the weight
limit. Hence, the term "flexible." Our two neighbors have been nothing
but wonderful to Floyd, and treat him as if he is their own. There is
a great fenced-in lawn for running and playing. Therefore, I felt
comfortable describing our place as dog-friendly. I respect the fact
that others may disagree, but I'm pretty confident in my personal
description based on my own experiences.

As always, thanks again to all of the wonderful dog owners who support
each other. We are such a small community (one hard to leave), so it's
good to all stick together.

Best,
Robyn

Finally, someone making some sense.  I have three dogs from 9 to 100lbs and no offense was taken.  Remember that we started this group to be supportive of each other.

we are being supportive of both 9lb. dog and the 100lb. dog no one is trying to gang up on anyone or trying to offended anyone but no condo board has the right to say i don't like you dog he out by saying he over 20lb. and that is in our condo laws no matter how open minded or flexible they are and call them self dog friendly condo board when they know that anyone in the condo can ask that the 20lb. condo law be inforce and have almost all the dogs put out to me that is not dog friendly

I'm happy to re-post your note re: your dog-friendly condo to another
list, if you have no objections.
