We've got lots of news this month -- and some new opportunities to dance!

WEEKLY SWING DANCE

Did you know there's a weekly swing dance in St. Mary's City?

A swing dance class/club meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church Parish Hall. The hall is directly across from Kent Hall on the campus of St. Mary's College of Maryland. Instructor Alan Brown leads the lessons. He has been teaching in St. Mary's County for years! If you are a beginner, he can get you started. If you already have some moves, he can help you build on them and learn some new ones.

A donation is accepted to help pay for the hall and Alan's time.

LEONARDTOWN FIRST FRIDAY SWING NIGHT!

Come swing dancing with us at Leonardtown's May First Friday! The event will take place Friday, May 5, on the square in downtown Leonardtown.

We will teach a lesson from 5:15 to 6 p.m., and the Chesapeake Swing Band will play LIVE music from 6 to 9 p.m.

You'll be dancing on asphalt, so wear comfortable shoes like sneakers. Your ballroom shoes will get damaged, and thin-soled shoes will make your feet hurt. (Ask us how we know ...)

MONTHLY DANCES

Our next monthly dance is Saturday, May 20, at Little Flower School on Route 5 in Leonardtown. As usual, we'll teach a lesson at 7 p.m. and play music for dancing from 8-11 p.m.

Mark your calendars for these summer dance dates. Little Flower's gym is now air conditioned, so we can keep dancing all summer!
