Workshop Shelves - Space improvement

It has been proposed we build some fixed shelving in the workshop similar to what exists in the cleanroom.


A list of questions / Concerns were raised in the members meeting, we should discuss these and understand this.


1) Will it actually do what we need? For this we should know what is planned to go on the shelves. What space will we free up by building them? Noting concern #2

2) Safety - nothing heavy (like power tools) should be above shoulder height. This is not a good room for ladder use. This restriction means we can’t put much on shelves. Also, nothing should go above the door.

3) Cost - if we already have some shelves, why not use those, and put the money towards a bigger work space.

4) Additional shelving just means we can make the problem worse by accumulating more stuff

I'm with you on the more stuff point. Is there anything in the existing storage not being used at all?
