Hello,

I'm trying to install Solstice and when I use the provided svn repo
location of https://svn.cac.washington.edu/solstice/solstice/trunk/
it wants a username and password. Since I do not have one, how might
I go about checking out the solstice application.

Thank You
Kogenta

Hi Kogenta,

Sorry about that, we've recently changed where we're hosting our svn
repositories, and our documentation is lagging a bit. The actual
location for public checkouts and browsing is at
https://svn.cac.washington.edu/public/solstice/solstice/trunk/

So I got connected to the SVN and followed the rest of the instructions, but now I am unable to actually configure solstice.

Here is the output I get when I run the server and try to submit the installation page

root@thepile:/var/solstice/solstice/bin# ./solstice_server -i thepile.highline.edu -a -u www-data
No Solstice config file found.  Setup wizard will be available at 'http://your-host.com/solstice/'
Running as www-data (PID: 22434)
Solstice server started: you can connect at http://thepile.highline.edu:8080
A full Solstice DB named solstice already exists, not creating or modifying
A full Session DB named sessions already exists, not creating or modifying
Use of uninitialized value in concatenation (.) or string at /var/solstice/solstice/bin/../lib/Solstice/View/Installer.pm line 146.
POST - 200 - /solstice/installer/

The line in the installer.pm file seems to be setting a variable called org_usernames and concatenating it with a variable called s.  Commenting out this line and trying again makes the error go away; however, no configuration file is created in either scenario and no error messages are shown on the installation page.  The only thing I get is the installation page refreshed, with all the values entered (see attached pdf).

Any help you can provide would be very useful.

Thank You

Hi Mike,

The uninitialized value is just a warning, and doesn't get in the way
of the installer running for me. In your pdf, it looks like there's a
section of the installer missing at the bottom of the basic
configuration section that controls what port solstice should run on,
if it's over ssl, and a username for the initial admin. If those are
not being displayed for you at all, you'll be getting a validation
error... in the space that isn't showing up.

I'm not seeing a reason for that section to not show up. Is it really
not there, or is that pdf tricking me? If it really isn't there for
you, what browser are you using?

I re-launched the server and tried going to the installer page in chrome, firefox, and IE; however, I only ever see the sections show in the pdf and no validation errors when I fill out the form.

I've run svn update on the checkout working copy of solstice, so it should be the latest revision.

Ok, so I ran install Solstice in CPAN and it seemed to be preferring that install over the one I was telling it to run the server from.  So I blew away the Solstice directory under /usr/local/share/perl/5.10.1/auto and replaced it with a softlink to my install directory and now I see the extra part of the form.

I'll let you know if I run into anymore difficulties.

Thanks for the help so far.
