October 24: Samhain ritual from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. We'll
start gathering at 6:30 p.m. We are holding the Samhain ritual a week
early because so many people have multiple obligations to fulfill on
October 31, and we don't want to miss the trick-or-treaters. No healing workshop this week.
Ritual details: This year, we will be incorporating some Day of the
Dead elements with a Voodoo flair from the Bayou. We will build an
altar to remember all of our beloved deceased, from those who died this
year to those who have been long dead. We will eulogize the deceased,
and eat and drink for them. I will provide a big pot of vegetarian
jambalaya and maybe some crawfish cakes (not veggy safe) as well as
plates, cups, and silverware, and some punch.
Everyone is
encouraged, but not required, to bring some food to share. Also, please
bring a picture of your beloved or some trinket that reminds you of
them to put on the altar. Don,t worry, you'll get it back. If you wish,
you may write a letter to them. You'll have an opportunity to read the
letter aloud, eulogize free form, or just keep quiet.
Drums and other musical instruments are welcome.
October 31: No discussion or healing workshop.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Blessed be,
Chuck Doebler
