Size of IT/Bioinformatics team

I was wondering what the size of peoples support team is for nextgen sequencing.

We utilize our institution's cluster and storage groups, and have a couple software engineers for everything else.

We have 2 bioinformaticians, hiring a third one. We also have one programmer, and one HPC specialist who among other things also supports NGS storage and computing.

We have 3 members in the wet-lab group.

I believe it much depends on what you expect to do... I mean, if you only need to produce data you may need 1/2 bioinformaticians, if you need to understand data you may need 2/4 bioinformaticians/statisticians, if you need to develop methods/algorithms you may need 3/6 bioinformaticians/statisticians/developers.

How many instruments do you have?

we have 2 GAs and upgrading one to a hiseq

To follow-up on what I wrote, we have 1 GA and 1 HiSeq and currently do only QA/QC alignment. We are building pipelines to automate variant calling and planning to offer that as service.
