A couple users upgraded to Monterey and got a notice that updated audio drivers were available in Teams. In other Office testing, I grabbed the standalone Teams installer and noticed this when running:

Update. The problem still exists. Ive restarted and fiddled with setting for 3 hours today with no joy. I think it is a project issue, perhaps my project being too big for my computer capacity. I only have 16gb ram.
If i open an empty project, and start working it will play fine from any audio driver (internal macbook or either of my two soundcards). If i open a big project with 50 channels lots of plugins it had this problem. Cannot load audio driver. Yet cubase sees the soundcard, any other app can play from the soundcard, just not cubase.
Last night the project worked. Today it wont.
Has anyone got any ideas?

EDIT: I sometimes have to freeze the channels when the audio driver is not loaded, save the project and then restart at which point it manages to load the audio driver. i.e., it requires a restart of cubase to work.

No its not a crash thing i dont think, the only correlation i have found is project size.
This only ever happens with big projects (the kind where i must increase buffer size to max to ensure no audio glitches). It may be because these big projects all also use a certain plugin or synth and that is the true problem (ie its a coincidence), but i dont think so because i have smaller projects which use my full range of vsts and synths too and i have yet to experience this issue.

Sometimes disbling program settings fixes it when i restart cubase. But not always. Yesterday it was working fine all day, then i went on chrome, did some other stuff and when i reopened cubase the problem returned. I tried restarting in all imaginable ways and nothing worked so after an hour i gave up!

I have an external audio interface (M-audio fast track c400). In order to get my macbook to recognize it (display in audio/midi setup), I have to reboot, which is a hassle. I have had other m-audio interfaces that were automatically detected when connected, and I'm pretty sure this one should be the same. Most posts around the internet suggest updating the OS or the software/firmware for the device. I have done all of those with no luck. I am currently running OS X 10.8.5.

Inspired by @sbugert's answer, I started looking into other system daemon's that might do the trick if restarted. As a shot in the dark I killed coreservicesd. This caused the OS to become visibly unstable and I was eventually logged out automatically. To my surprise, when I logged back in, my audio interface was recognized..

Based on that, I hypothesized that killing coreservicesd and logging out/in may be a possible (ugly) workaround. So I unplugged the interface and plugged it back in, and as expected, it was not recognized. So I killed coreservicesd and attempted to log out, however I could not get the system to log out due to the instability caused by killing coreservicesd. I eventually was forced to do a "hard" shutdown (i.e. holding the power button until it turns off). After booting up the macbook again, the interface is now recognized automatically every time I plug it in. I suspect that this "hard" reset may have solved the issue without all the shenanigans with the coreservices daemon, but I have no way to test that.

Here I have discovered that if I select another device before disconnecting the interface (Fast Track C400 too), I can connect it again later with no problem. But if I am using the fast track and then disconnect it, it can't connect again until restart it.

I continue to have trouble with a "pop" sound every time I start playing a video (youtube, etc.), anytime that I change the volume, and also during most Windows alerts. It's driving me up a wall. It also happens any time that I skip to a different point in a video (youtube, etc.).

I RIGHT click on it and choose "Disable Device". As soon as I do that, NO MORE POPPING SOUNDS. However, the audio is not quite as rich (it's good sound, but not as good as when it is enabled--but the popping sound just drives me nuts).

Thanks Xavier! Tell your boss to give you a raise. Your solution worked great. In the past I have always used the generic drivers from Intel (since they are updated much more frequently than the HP drivers)---turn out that's not a good idea with this computer.

2. Go the Device Manger, RIGHT click on HD 620 under display drivers and choose "uninstall", then in the box that pops up put a check in the box for "delete all drivers for this device". If you get a message that you're about to install drivers older than the current drivers, choose YES/install/OK. Whenit's finished and it asks to reboot, choose LATER.

3. Still in Device Manager, under System Devices, RIGHT click on Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R( SST) Audio Controller and choose "uninstall", then in the box that pops up put a check in the box for "delete all drivers for this device".

Where can I find this driver so I can delete it? Somehow (but in the last couple of months) this Audio Device was installed on my MacBook Pro 16 running Catalina 10.15.4. I have spent the entire day trying to remove it as part of troubleshooting another an audio problem. Not only can I not remove it, I can't even find it to remove it. Have also included a screen shot below to show how it appears in System Report and in the Apple MIDI Setup app. The Webex uninstallers don't remove it, i have tried third-party installers like CleanMyMac, and I have googled for tips and and hunted and removed every file in every Library with "Cisco" and "WebEx" on it, and a total super-scrub uninstall and reinstall didn't fix the problem either. Hoping someone can tell me I am missing something simple. Thanks!

My ask if anyone from Cisco sees this is to toggle this driver on when needed (optimize for motion and video) and off/disabled when not needed. Otherwise, allow the driver to be manually turned on and off or something.

I am also having this problem. I uninstalled Webex 3 months ago. But today I cannot talk with my doctor -- cannot use Kaiser Permanente Medical Center's Online Video Doctor Conferencing, because Webex is comandeering the speaker system resource. WebexMediaAudioDevice is visible in the Audio Devices preferences panel, and in the Settings section of Kaiser Doctor Video browser app. I cannot remove it in the Audio Devices preferences panel, and the word Webex is not found anywhere when I search the computer files.

A couple of days ago my screen turned blue - so called blue screen - and after it was done the computer started, but there was no soundcard. I've been trying to download drivers from HP's, but (1) I'm not really sure which one to download (2) the downloads do not get installed - and nothing works. I do not have the Realtek High Definition Audio driver in my device management thing. Need help asap

I've updated my BIO or BIOS, whatever it's called and also "installed" that other thing - probel being, it's not installing. Nothing's happening. Also you wrote a big paragraph about me checking in on the driver in device managment - new problem - the audio driver is not there, and when im having these issues, its never there. So i cannot update it, disable it og uninstall it.

If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Thanks for such quick response, but unfortunately - nothing seems to fix my issue. I've downloaded and installed all the recommended updates in the HP assistant software, and also checked for updates which have not been installed in the windows update section. I've also tried to install multiple drivers from around the web including HP's drivers website and RealTeks offical (I guess) website. It says that they were installed, but after a reboot - there is no sound card in device management, and therefore no sound - at all.

Also, as I was writing this I checked in device management and saw that under System Units (dunno if thats the tab, language barrier :), that something called Intel Smart-Sound technology sound controller or something is not working and is running error code 31.

I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to Remote into your computer and sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Looks like the link to get the USB driver for the Quad Cortex is dead. The link should be fixed or deleted. At least on the web page I navigated to (see below). Pretty sure I downloaded this driver before but setting up on a different PC now.
