Hello good folk of the South.
I have just stumbled upon your groups, after a passing mention by, IIRC,
Diane Hollingdale ( AKA Gremlin?). (BTW, Diane, if you're reading this,
sorry....I didn't mean any offence :-))
I live in the Solent area, and have been on the Net for a couple of
years, but this is the first I have heard of these groups. Having
subscribed to most of them, (but not the sport one :-)), there appears
to be little traffic.
So, in response to Phil Dyes post on removal of most of these groups,
and the subsequent concentration of posts in the remaining groups,I
would like to express my agreement with his proposals.
I would go further, in saying that I believe the way forward for these
local groups, is to come under the hierarchy of uk.local.?????, thus
ensuring wide propagation and knowledge of the group(s), and the
subsequent increase in traffic in the group(s).
I reiterate that I am a newcomer to these groups, but I would like to
see a debate on these issues before any action is taken.

And there you have it in the proverbial nutshell. Been on the net two years
and has only just found these newsgroups,
How many other users are there out there like this ?? my guess is 3,483 :o)

I don't expect my comments will mean much but...I have only just started
on the net and know nothing of how it works yet. I am slowly learning
through the messages sent back to me! I won't give in yet though.
Unfortunately for some, I found Solent Chat was, about all I could find,
well marked, but seemingly undersubscribed. What a shame! Therefore it
became somewhat boring. Every night I have a look for people chatting,
where are they all? Not a lot of help to you I suppose I've at least
contributed.
