Hello SOLEmates and supporters of our local economy... Don't think the title means this is a fluff film. It offers a critical look at the impacts of economic globalization in the first 30 minutes and then documents the rise of the localization movement, including references to the benefits of rebuilding our local retail and food economies. Doors open at 6 pm, film at 6:30 pm. It's 65 minutes and the panel following is strictly optional.

Economics of Happiness film

Simply Living and the Buckeye Forest Council

are presenting a special FREE screening of Economics of Happiness

at the Main Library in Columbus on

Wednesday, April 3, at 6:00 pm.

This internationally acclaimed film depicts how globalization is aggravating nearly every problem we face and how the worldwide localization movement is repairing our ecosystems, our societies and ourselves. The documentary features Vandana Shiva, Bill McKibben, David Korten, Michael Shuman, Juliet Schor, Richard Heinberg, Rob Hopkins, Samdhong Rinpoche and others.

People are starting to forge a very different future. This film renews our belief in humanity and strengthens our vision for a sustainable world.

Following the screening, a panel discussion on local sustainability initiatives will include:
> Mac Crawford, Transition Initiative leader in Central Ohio. Simply Living serves as the Transition Hub locally for the National Transition Network, and works to strengthen the resilience of local neighborhoods and communities by promoting local foods, local economic activity, energy efficiency, and more.
> Michael Greenman—Coordinator, Care and Share Time Bank. The CSTB offers an innovative, computer based service that allows members to share skills, resources, and services while building strong community ties. Simply Living is an affiliate organization with the CSTB.
> Nathan Johnson, Attorney and board member of the Buckeye Forest Council. The BFC plays a leadership role in educating local communities about the impact of "fracking" for natural gas in deep shale deposits, and supports legislative efforts to preserve our local forests and public park systems.

Free and open to the general public.
