Net metering cap has been reached -- contact legislators

National Grid and Unitil have both hit their net metering caps. This means that solar systems that have not yet been connected to the grid will not receive full retail price for the electricity that they send back to the grid. This will add a year or two to the payback period for solar systems.

 

The legislation that would raise the net metering cap is conference committee in the Massachusetts Legislature. The legislature is attempting to reconcile differences between Senate Bill 2214 and House Bill 4198.

 

Please contact the following members of the conference committee and urge them to report the bill out of conference committee so that it can be enacted before the legislature adjourns at the end of  July.
