Energy Legislation Summit in Harvard
Tuesday, May 28, 7pm, Harvard Public Library, Volunteers HallState Senator Jamie Eldridge and Representative Jen Benson will visit Harvard to discuss pending legislation promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency, and to gather feedback and ideas from Harvard residents on Tuesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. in Volunteers Hall.
For the last several years, Harvard has been on the forefront of statewide efforts to reduce municipal and residential energy consumption and promote clean energy alternatives for municipal and residential use. Much progress has been made, but obstacles remain, and legislation filed by elected representatives can help Harvard and other communities move forward. The Harvard Energy Advisory Committee and representatives of the Harvard Solar Garden will describe their energy conservation efforts and then Senator Eldridge and Representative Benson will give an update on the bills they’ve filed or sponsored promoting these efforts.
There will be ample time for Q&A; Jen and Jamie want to hear our ideas and concerns on these important issues.Energy-related bills for this legislative session
- An Act promoting total impact energy analysis
- An Act creating a grant program for municipal and regional energy efficiency managers
- An Act relative to energy efficiency funds generated by municipal light plants
- An Act further promoting energy efficiency and green jobs
- An Act relative to promoting zero net energy
- An Act relative to equitable taxation of solar systems
- An Act to modernize the renewable energy property tax exemption
The event is cosponsored by the Harvard Energy Advisory Committee and the League of Women Voters.
