First off, let me thank you for putting together such an invaluable tool for the BT gamer. It has saved me countless hours and taken the labor out of custom mech design. You have done excellent work with SSW.

I was wondering if you'll be implementing tools for tripod mech, super heavy mech, quadvee mech, and off course land air mech? If so, is there a time line for these? Also, is there anything I can do to help the cause?

Hi Thomas,

Thanks!  I am always happy to hear that someone has made good use of the program...it makes the hours of work worth it. :)

I don't have any kind of timeline since I have been the only partially active developer in the last year or two...and I've been kept busy with RL stuff.

I have considered Tripods and Super Heavy 'Mechs but there are a number of technical challenges to them that stopped me from getting very far when I have spent time and brain power on them. I expect that all of the items you listed are going to take weeks of dedicated work to implement.

So, I'm not saying no never...but I can't make any timeline predictions either. :(   Anyone know any Java developers?

I'd  bet that if we asked around...we can find a few java developers that would be willing to donate a little time helping improve on Solaris Skunk Werks? Battletech is a nerd heavy community after all.

Have you considered asking for some support from one of these groups? Hell, half of these guys use SSW and would be more than  happy to do what they can.

IMO you need help in two different areas

1. Keeping SSW up to date with equipment eras
2. Adding new features like the super heavies and the tripods

So why not delegate out help to two different pools of volunteers?

If SSW isn't kept up to date, then people will eventually stop using it for another program. It will fall to the wayside like HMP. This a great piece of software and you should let the community help.

Just poking around with SSW, I think I know how to update the Eras. But it could go faster if you are willing to share where era code is at. I got the weapons done, but it's things like Void Signature, mixed technologies, and armored components that are eluding me. I'll find it, it's just a matter of time
