We received an invitation from the UNFCCC Secretariat to send a YOUNGO representative to the Second Standing Committee Meeting to be held Cape Town, South Africa on Oct 4 - 6. Interested youth should have an interest in contributing to the mechanisms of delivering Climate Finance.

We are now calling for self-nominations in order to designate our representative. If you are interested to attend the above mentioned meeting and represent YOUNGO, please apply by Monday, 24 September, 2012 at 11:59pm GMT. 

Meeting Description

The Conference of the Parties (COP), at its sixteenth session, established the Standing Committee to assist the COP in exercising its functions with respect to the financial mechanism of the Convention in terms of improving coherence and coordination in the delivery of climate change financing, rationalization of the financial mechanism, mobilization of financial resources and measurement, reporting and verification of support provided to developing country Parties. At COP 17, Parties further defined the roles and functions of the StandingCommittee and requested the Committee to develop a work programme for presentation at the eighteenth session of the COP. IMPORTANT: Before applying please note that there is no funding available  to cover the travels, accommodation and visa costs. Please note that participants are responsible for making their own travel and visa arrangements.  

Also note that the nominee will have to fill in and sign in a registration form to be submitted to the UNFCCC Secretariat by 28th September to enable her/his official registration.

APPLICATION
Below are the criteria you must fill in and provide order to apply, so please make sure you fill them all

1) Full name and age.

2) Current address (including email) and country.

3) What is the name of your organization, institution, university or other ? 

4) Are you available to participate in full in the Workshop as YOUNGO representative and write a report afterwards? (please note that you must  commit to doing so if nominated)

5) Are you able to confirm by 24th September that you have funding to cover your full travel and will secure the necessary visa if needed?

6) Have you ever represented YOUNGO at a UNFCCC event or any other related event? If yes, please describe.

7) Do you possess specific knowledge on Climate Finance? If yes, please describe in detail.

 8) What is your interest in attending this Workshop and what knowledge do you think you can provide on the topic on behalf of YOUNGO ?

9) Is there any other information that you think positively affects your candidacy for this position ? If yes please describe.

If you would like to nominate yourself, please send your self-nomination as an attached file (word.doc, Pdf) to: in...@youthclimate.org by Monday, 24 September 2012 at 11:59 pm GMT.

If nominated you will receive a registration form to fill in, sign in and send back to us so that we enable your official registration. The deadline to submit this to the UNFCCC Secretariat is the 28 September,2012 So please make sure to read your email regularly to check if you have been nominated and sent the registration form.

The agenda of the meeting, detailed information on the venue and logistical arrangements will be communicated to our nominee later on.
